General manager Joe Schoen spread the message that management and New York Giants fans wanted to hear as the team limped into its bye week with a 2-8 record, a five-game losing streak and a second straight losing season all but assured.

“There’s no sense in going through a rebuild with the head coach and a general manager on the hot seat,” Canty said. “It’s been three years for (Brian) Daboll and (Joe) Schoen and frankly, that’s long enough.”

Schoen's bye week news conference was a no-win situation for the GM. Unfortunately, that made it a lot like the team he has assembled.
