Don't be daunted by the idea of climbing stairs: the guided tour takes 30 minutes to reach the top. You stop on multiple floors for approximately 5 minutes each to look at exhibits--maps, artifacts… Full review by Eleni75

I’m so glad we stopped here! Volunteers take you up to the top and provide a fun tour with lots of information about the observatory. Lots of steps, but you can rest on each level if you need to. Res… Full review by KathyS98

Yes, the street parking does have a time limit. I can't remember if it was a 2 or 3 hour time limit, but you can probably do the entire Portland Observatory tour (even the one with the tour guide) in about an hour.

How long does a guided tour usually last? We plan on going in late September.
A:
35-40 minutes, depending on how long you linger at the top. The view is terrific!

A:
The financial cost, I I recall correctly, is either zero or minimal. The muscle cost is another matter.
